Reiki 1 — First Degree Course (Shoden)

About the course

The first degree is a gift for life. During the course, you receive an initiation into Reiki and learn how to practise it for yourself and the people around you.

Reiki 1 provides a foundation for your practice. It consists of four consecutive half-day sessions of approximately three hours each. You will learn what Reiki is and how to apply the method in a practical and thoughtful way, both for yourself and for others. No previous experience is needed; Reiki can be learned by anyone.

What will you learn?

• The traditional hands-on treatment method and the hand positions taught in the lineage of Hawayo Takata, with practice offering Reiki across the body.
• Ways of understanding and experiencing Reiki in body and mind.
• The background and history of the Reiki practice.
• Four initiations from the Reiki Master, introducing you to Reiki, understood as universal life energy.
• Self-treatment and how to offer Reiki to other people.

After the course, you will be able to practise Reiki independently for yourself and people close to you. You will gain practical skills and a foundation in the heart of this healing practice.

A meaningful beginning to your Reiki path

This course is taught by a traditionally trained Reiki Master and is open to anyone who would like to bring Reiki into everyday life. You will meet the practice in a clear, practical and respectful way. There is room for your own process, without dogma or mystification, with depth, structure and respect for who you are and how you meet life.

Courses are taught in Dutch, English, Italian and French, in small groups of up to six people in Hoofddorp or online. Check the RayChiCALLS profile for the latest course dates, language and format.

Certificate of participation

At the end of the Reiki 1 course, you receive a certificate of participation. It records your initiation into the first degree of Reiki in the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition. From then on, you can practise Reiki independently for yourself and the people close to you.

You are not energetically dependent on the Reiki Master who initiated you. Your Master remains your teacher within the tradition: an experienced person who can guide and support you and help when questions arise or you wish to deepen your practice.

Having an experienced Reiki Master to turn to can be a valuable part of learning. You do not have to walk the path alone; there is someone available to think things through with you with care and attention.

Why find a Reiki Master through Reikicursus.nl?

Reikicursus.nl is a nationwide network of independent Reiki Masters, not a central training institute. Its directory helps people find a Reiki Master in their region. The listed Masters teach within the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition, passing on the practice through a teacher-to-student relationship. You learn from a person, not a brand, and can continue to receive guidance after the course.
